How I Work
As well as discussing your issues you'll also get an insight into how you are experienced within the therapeutic relationship through honest, sensitive and often challenging feedback. Whilst the therapeutic relationship is unlike any other, it is a microcosm of other relationships and so provides the opportunity to explore some of the relational dynamics that get played out with family, friends and colleagues. To this end it can be a powerful way to self development and for understanding interpersonal dynamics.
An Integrative approach sees there as being no one correct or 'true' theoretical model. Those who profess one approach over another unecessarily limit the scope of their work and thinking. I do not restrict myself in the way I work and think; my training and experience enables me to use different theoretical approaches as and where relevant.
Models I draw from include Object Relations, Psychodynamic, Existential, Systemic and Gestalt. I practice meditation, yoga, regular supervision and CPD as part of my own development.
